Venice, 9-16 September, 2017

        Grand Canal, Venice

Giovanni Pilu, Alessandro Pavoni and Sue Jenkins

In 2015 Giovanni Pilu, Alessandro Pavoni and myself hosted two weeks of gourmet tours in the beautiful San Pietro Palazzo in Venice. The tours were so successful and in such demand that we are returning in 2017 for one 7 day tour only.

Palazzo San Pietro

The Palazzo has been beautifully restored by its architect owner and is within walking distance to the two major venues of the Biennale di Venezia – you will have time to explore and wander.

Palazzo San Pietro

On arrival at the Palazzo, you will have time to settle in before sunset drinks on the terrace overlooking Venice and a welcome dinner prepared by Alessandro and Giovanni. On our first full day of the tour we will be visiting the Rialto Markets, the commercial pulse of Venice. This is where we will be shopping for local produce, browsing the stalls for vegetables, fish, bread and traditional Venetian ingredients under the expert eye of Giovanni and Alessandro. After a light lunch at a local bacaro, we will return home for an evening cooking class with Giovanni and Alessandro and our purchases.

Visiting the rice fields of Ferron is a must and we will be taking a private bus to Verona where we will tour the fields, the factory and having a cooking class culminating in lunch. We will have dinner in the beautiful town of Verona with the master of Salumi before returning home.

Peggy Guggenheim

No trip to Venice would be complete without a trip to the museum whose core mission is to house the personal collection of Peggy Guggenheim. We will be having lunch at a local trattoria before returning home to the Palazzo to relax and have dinner.

Murano, Italy

We will be making a visit to Murano, a small island in the Venetian lagoon famous all over the world for its unique glass manufacturing where we will be having a private tour of a factory before stopping for lunch. We will also be visiting the island of Burano where we will have time to explore the town before visiting a vineyard and having lunch at the Gatto Nero.

There will be plenty of exploration of the Bacari and wandering from place to place to enjoy an “ombra” along with the accompanying cichetti. There will also be plenty of free time to enjoy this beautiful romantic city.
