India with Marieke Brugman and Sue Jenkins

Marieke Brugman will host this tour
Sue Jenkins will accompany this tour

Sue is excited to once again collaborate with Marieke Brugman from Marieke’s Art of Living. It is now a decade since our last sojourn in Rajasthan and whilst much has changed in India, there is a sense of timelessness in this ancient land that needs to be experienced at least once in a lifetime. Marieke and Sue have enjoyed a long friendship cemented during the many years Marieke taught at Accoutrement in the years she owned the Howqua Dale Gourmet Retreat & Cooking School.

This 14 day tour commences in Delhi where we will be taking a flight to Udaipur and staying in Raas Devi Garh Fort Palace in Delwara for 3 nights – an 18th Century hertage property. From this base we will be visiting the City Palace in Udaipur, have a hands on cooking class and visit the nearby temples.
We will then be flying to Jaipur and staying in Amanbagh- a lavish rural property within a walled compound once used by the Maharajah of Alwar where the Executive Chef will orchestrate a royal banquet for the evening. While here we will visit the homes of local women and have a cooking class in the gardens.

Returning to the capital of Rajasthan we will check into the Jai Mahal hotel, our base for the next 2 nights. We will visit the textile museum and there is plenty of time for curated shopping in the surrounding bazaars. For those interested, a game of golf can be organized at the Rambagh Golf Club.

We have an early morning flight to Bagdogra followed by a drive through scenic mountain landscapes to reach the Glenburn Tea Estate. Glenburn is a 150 year old colonial plantation house and working tea estate located just above the River Rungeet. While here for the next three nights, we will have a guided tour of the tea factory with tastings, cooking demonstrations and plenty of time to take a walk with the resident naturalists, book a massage, have a picnic on the river, visit the monasteries and temples or possibly a game of golf.India with Marieke Brugman and Sue Jenkins

Our final destination is Kolkata where we will be checking into the Oberoi Grand in time for dinner. In the morning we will be embarking on a full days excursion around the monuments, bazaars and sights of this colourful city with many gastromic highlights. In the afternoon we will enjoy a private sunset cruise on the Hoogly River before a farewell Bengali feast in a private residence. The day of departure will leave time for last minute shopping and sightseeing, before a late checkout and transfer to the airport for evening flight departures.
